Clean cut takes high tech solution

By Modern Plastics Editorial Staff

The planetary saw series TPS on polyolefin pipe extrusion lines equipped with TR/AFT-H single screw extruders from this equipment maker eliminates swarf for clean pipe production. The planetary unit is fitted on a carriage which during cutting operations travels along with the advancing pipe inside a steel frame. It has a rotary cutting blade and milling cutters for single or double end chamfering. The unit’s motor is installed on a rotating drum, which permits cuts into the pipe as the carriage moves forward. The tool set includes a mechanical feeler pin to adjust chamfering depth should pipe unevenness through thickness changes occur. During the cutting cycle, the carriage is hauled along by the speed of the pipe being extruded, clamped by two pairs of jaws. It can be assisted in forward movement by an air cylinder or by a motor, synchronized with the line’s speed. Luigi Bandera SpA, Busto Arsizio, Italy; +39 0331 398111; www.lbandera.com
